In this work, I tried to merge the various images of endlessly increasing cities into one chronological timeline in a single-channel video. I chose Tokyo as the motif for this project since it typifies a place that is growing and constantly transforming. Through the fragmented images of this piece, it is hard to identify what is actually on screen and the meaning behind the images, but I want audiences to recognize and define landscapes that are depicted in a different way than we see them in everyday life. It is important to realize that the messages we receive from things are not their true definition, nor should we define meanings and functions in general, but rather, seek the hidden meanings in momentary, fragmentary details. Remember, God is in the details. This work demonstrates the difficulty of perceiving, understanding and recognizing reality.
